Daisy's Past

Over four years after my friend Daisy lost contact with her bloke, I find out that the very same man – Jay Gatsby – has been living right across the bay from us. It’s an odd story, started 1917 back in Louiseville, we went to the same school, me and Daisy. We weren’t exactly close friends back then, I looked up to her, she was more like an older role model for us girls. She was pretty, rich, the most popular girl in town and she always had buff boys after her.

Gatsby

One day I saw her making out with some new guy in her car but even though I was checking him out I was trying to go unnoticed so carried on walking. But then Daisy calls me over and tries to get me to cover for her to the staff at red cross so she can get a bit more one on one time with her new fella.

She called me over – “Hello Jordan, please come here”. I was happy that she wanted to talk to me she was like, so popular. All she wanted was to get off work that day, slacker.

This guy, Jay Gatsby, I didn’t see him again for ages. But I heard rumours, that Daisy was found packing her bags to go see this guy off. But all the girls were like, her mom wouldn’t let her. The next thing I hear, she’s engaged to some new guy, well loaded. I was her bridesmaid and all.

Marriage

She was like well upset the night before; she came up to me and was like “I don’t wanna get married!”. She was clutching this letter, and wouldn’t drop it.

But I guess she got over it, cos the next day they did tie the knot.

When they got back, they seemed like so in love, I couldn’t believe it. They had a kid, and all that family stuff.

6 weeks ago, Daisy heard the name Gatsby for the first time in years. I just realised he must be same Gatsby, as the guy in that car.
